Chamba Rumal – Monkey Tricks | 100% Khadi | Limited Edition
The Story
A stitched outline frames the khadi cloth, establishing a contained rectangular surface.
The edge is worked with closely spaced pink stitches that run uninterrupted along all sides, forming a continuous enclosing line.
The embroidered scene is located away from the center, occupying a small portion of the field.
An adult monkey is depicted seated on a branch-like form, with limbs extended and the tail curving downward. The figure is constructed through dense stitching, with controlled thread placement defining the head, torso, arms, legs, and facial features.
A young monkey appears in front of the adult, facing it with one forelimb raised. Its form is rendered through shorter stitch lengths, with simplified articulation of the body and limbs.
The supporting branch is formed through layered threadwork, with additional leaf structures extending outward through directional stitching.
A fine stitched line runs beneath the figures, indicating ground alignment within the composition.
Each element remains clearly separated, with open space surrounding the embroidered forms.
The work is executed drawing from Chamba Rumal visual language, using fine hand-controlled needlework.
The embroidery follows the Do-rukha technique, with identical articulation on both sides and no visible knotting.
Variations in stitch direction and density indicate manual execution.
The embroidery is applied on khadi fabric.
