Chamba Rumal – Don's Key | 100% Khadi | Limited Edition
The Story
A continuous stitched boundary encloses the textile, formed by repeating triangular threadwork along all four sides.
The interior remains largely open, with the embroidered imagery positioned toward one side of the surface.
A mother donkey is depicted in forward movement, indicated by a lifted foreleg. The figure is shaped through closely worked stitches, with thread variation defining the ears, head, torso, limbs, and tail.
A baby donkey appears alongside her, oriented in the same direction. Its form is rendered through finer stitching, with a smaller, compact structure.
Fine linear stitches beneath the figures establish their placement on the ground, while small plant forms are distributed nearby.
Each motif is set apart with clear spacing, allowing the figures to remain visually distinct within the open field.
The embroidery is carried out drawing from Chamba Rumal visual language, using fine hand-applied needlework.
The work is executed in the Do-rukha technique, with identical visual articulation on both sides and no visible knotting.
Subtle variations in stitch direction and density reflect manual execution.
The embroidery is executed on khadi fabric.
