Originating from the Bhil tribal community of Central and Western India, primarily in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Maharashtra, Bhil art is a living expression of centuries-old traditions. Rooted in their hunter, warrior, and agrarian heritage, these vibrant paintings first adorned mud walls and clay floors, reflecting daily life, rituals, and the rhythms of nature. Using intricate dot-work and symbolic motifs—including animals, birds, trees, rivers, and celestial symbols—artists bring to life harvesting scenes, festivals, folklore, and village life, capturing the harmony between humans and the natural world.
