The Story

Mullayanagiri brings the peacock to life through a restrained palette of deep pink, green and deep blue. Worked entirely by hand in Murgi and Gavanti, the motif is constructed through counted stitches, with colour defining the plumage, body and finer extensions of the form.

The embroidery sits quietly within an expansive field of handwoven khadi, allowing its scale and intricacy to be appreciated without ornament around it. Viewed closely, the counted movement of the needle becomes visible alongside the natural variations of the cloth—two forms of handwork held within a single piece.
