Chamba Rumal - White Flower | 100% Linen | Limited Edition
The Story
The surface opens as a wide, lightly textured field, with the embroidered detail held away from the center.
The motif is positioned in the lower right quadrant, occupying a small portion of the cloth while the surrounding area remains unworked.
Two floral forms emerge from separate stems. Each carries a white bloom with a maroon center, placed at the end of slender, upward-moving stems. The stems branch outward, forming curved extensions that hold smaller rounded buds.
Leaves appear along the stems in alternating placements, with darker and lighter green tones distinguishing individual forms. The arrangement spreads outward without strict symmetry, with one stem rising slightly higher than the other.
Stitchwork varies across the petals and leaves, where thread density shifts between compact fills and more open passages. Edges of the forms show slight irregularity, revealing the hand-led execution.
A continuous border stitch runs along all edges, creating a repeated linear frame that holds the otherwise open field.
Drawing from Chamba Rumal visual language and executed in Do-rukha embroidery, the work is carried out on linen fabric. Both sides retain equal clarity, with no visible hierarchy between front and reverse.
