Sujani is an embroidered textile tradition associated with the Mithila region of present-day Bihar. Historically created through layers of cloth joined with running stitches, the practice developed as a form of narrative and decorative needlework. The embroidered surface is characterised by dense stitch work that simultaneously creates structure, texture and imagery, allowing stories and observations to emerge through thread.
